GDC Narrative Competition 2023 Submission

Every year, GDC hosts a competition open to students where they submit a game narrative analysis of their choosing. Winners are then asked to make a poster summarizing their paper and are able to attend the conference to speak more about their analysis.

I am a three time gold winner of this award. My first submission in 2023 aimed at detailing the themes and events of Austin Jorgensen's LISA: The Painful. I picked this game as I commended its bold and unabashed themes and imagery, as well as how I believe it stands as a pinnacle of the effectiveness of telling stories through games.
